Oils : Essential Care For Your Skin

Whether your skin is mature, sensitive or oily, oils can offer many benefits. Essential or vegetal, discover the virtues of these oils for providing care for your skin.

“ESSENTIAL” & “VEGETAL”: THE DIFFERENCE

In order to choose the right care oil for your skin, it is important to be able to distinguish vegetal oils from essential oils.

  • Vegetal Oils are derived from oleaginous plants, meaning plants producing fruits, nuts or seeds, which contain a large amount of fat. Vegetal oils are obtained by applying mechanical pressure to vegetal seeds, usually by way of cold pressure.

Depending on the origin of the vegetal seed oil, vegetal oils can provide the skin with softening, smoothing, nourishing, moisturizing and regenerative properties. These oils are often used in the care of dry, mature and sensitive skin. They also serve as the basis for the manufacturing of certain essential oils.

  • Essential Oils are derived from the distillation of aromatic plants (or from the organs of aromatic plants such as the flower, root or bark). This distillation process provides a way to extract a pure concentrate of aromatic molecules, referred to as the essence of the plant, which have powerful properties. Unlike vegetal oils, the texture of essential oils is not oily. Used alone or in combination, essential oils offer problem skin their anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, toning, soothing and healing properties.

When essential oils are used in synergy, meaning they are combined with different essential or vegetal oils, their effects become more versatile and amplified.
